Role OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in the Microsoft Azure ecosystem to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of our cloud platform, delivery pipelines, and infrastructure automation practices.This role is responsible for building and operating secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will own infrastructure as code (IaC), cloud governance, platform reliability, cost optimization, and engineering enablement across development and operations teams.The Senior DevOps Engineer will work closely with Software Engineering, Architecture, Security, and Operations teams to ensure all platform capabilities are delivered using modern engineering practices, reliability by design principles, and security-first architecture.Key ResponsibilitiesAzure Platform Engineering Design, implement, and operate enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure. Define and maintain Azure landing zones, networking architecture, identity integration, and platform governance. Build reusable cloud platform components and shared services for engineering teams. Drive cloud architecture decisions aligned with scalability, resilience, and operational excellence.Infrastructure as Code Ownership Own the full lifecycle of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) implementation and governance. Design, build, and maintain modular, reusable, version-controlled infrastructure using tools (Terraform,Bicep,ARM Templates) Establish IaC standards, code review practices, testing strategies, and deployment automation. Ensure all infrastructure changes are traceable, peer-reviewed, and deployed through automated pipelines.CI/CD and Platform Automation Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, or equivalent tooling. Automate application delivery, infrastructure deployment, configuration management, and release processes. Implement deployment strategies such as blue/green, canary, and rolling deployments. Improve developer productivity through platform self-service capabilities and automation frameworks.Reliability Engineering Build systems with reliability by design principles. Define and implement: High availability architectures,Disaster recovery strategies,Backup and restore mechanisms,Fault tolerance patterns,Capacity planning models. Establish observability frameworks including: (Metrics,Logging,Distributed tracing,Alerting) Define and track SLOs, SLIs, and operational KPIs.Cloud Cost Ownership Own cloud financial governance and cost optimization initiatives. Monitor Azure consumption and identify opportunities for cost reduction. Implement cost control strategies. Partner with engineering and leadership teams to improve cost visibility and accountability.Security and Compliance Alignment Partner closely with Security, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure platform implementations align with approved security architectures and organizational standards. Ensure all infrastructure, pipelines, and platform services continuously follow security-advised best practices. Implement and maintain: (Identity and access controls, Secrets management, Network segmentation, Vulnerability management, Policy enforcement). Integrate security controls into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure deployment workflows. Support audit readiness and compliance initiatives.Operational Excellence Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement initiatives. Create and maintain operational runbooks, standards, and platform documentation. Drive platform maturity, operational automation, and engineering best practices. Mentor engineers and contribute to DevOps culture across teams.ExperienceRequired Qualifications 7+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, or site reliability engineering roles. 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and operating production workloads on Microsoft Azure.Technical ExpertiseStrong experience with:Azure ServicesInfrastructure Automation (Terraform,Bash,Python)CI/CD and DevOps ToolingContainers and OrchestrationObservabilityArchitecture and Operations (Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud architecture, networking, and platform security).Experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant systems.Strong understanding of operational excellence and incident management practices.Security (Practical experience implementing cloud security controls and secure-by-design engineering practices).Financial Operations (Demonstrated experience managing and optimizing cloud infrastructure costs).Preferred Qualifications Azure certifications.Success MeasuresSuccess in this role will be measured by: Infrastructure fully managed through code and automation Reduced cloud spend while maintaining service quality Improved platform availability and operational reliability Strong compliance with security and governance standards Faster and safer software delivery across engineering teams Increased engineering productivity through platform enablement
