Job Purpose:The Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer leads and supports the electrical, controls, automation, and commissioning scope for bulk material handling systems and machine packages. The role covers the project lifecycle from concept and design review through technical coordination, testing, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and handover. The position plays a key technical role in ensuring that machine functionality, control philosophy, and field performance are aligned with project and client requirements. Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical and Controls EngineeringLead and support the electrical and controls engineering scope for bulk material handling systems such as conveyors, feeders, transfer systems, bunker discharge systems, silo discharge systems, and related auxiliary equipment.Prepare, review, and validate key engineering deliverables including single line diagrams, control schematics, panel layouts, cable schedules, I/O lists, loop diagrams, motor lists, and commissioning documentation.Define and review control philosophy, interlocks, permissives, alarms, trips, operating sequences, and field device interfaces.Design Coordination and Technical LeadershipAct as the senior focal point for electrical and controls matters within assigned projects or machine packages.Coordinate with mechanical, process, project, and procurement teams to ensure full alignment of electrical and controls scope with machine function and operating requirements.Review vendor submittals, technical offers, datasheets, and design documents to confirm compliance with project specifications and client standards.Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, risk reviews, and client discussions.Provide guidance and technical support to junior engineers and project team members.Commissioning and StartupLead or support pre-commissioning, cold commissioning, hot commissioning, startup, functional testing, and performance verification activities.Review electrical and controls readiness before energization and startup.Support loop testing, signal verification, motor rotation checks, functional checks, sequence testing, and interlock validation.Troubleshoot electrical and automation issues during startup and propose practical corrective actions.Coordinate with project teams, vendors, site teams, and client representatives during testing and commissioning phases.Prepare commissioning reports, punch lists, startup records, and handover documentation.Site and Project SupportProvide technical support during project execution to ensure that the electrical and controls scope is implemented in line with design intent and operating philosophy.Resolve technical queries, review site feedback, and support practical engineering decisions during execution.Attend site visits as required for inspections, testing, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and technical coordination.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Power, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.Strong experience in electrical, EC&I, controls, or commissioning roles within industrial projects.Proven exposure to heavy industry, cement, mining, metals, alternative fuels, waste handling, or bulk material handling environments.Strong knowledge of MCCs, PLCs, drives, control panels, instrumentation, and industrial electrical systems.Strong ability to read and review electrical drawings, control schematics, P&IDs, logic documents, and interface drawings.Good command of English for technical communication, reporting, and coordination.Preferred ExperienceExperience with bulk material handling systems such as conveyors, feeders, silos, bunkers, transfer points, and discharge systems.Familiarity with Siemens, Schneider, Allen-Bradley, Yokogawa, or similar automation platforms.Experience using AutoCAD, EPLAN, ETAP, Ecodial, or similar engineering software.Experience in FAT, SAT, commissioning planning, and project handover.Experience in OEM, EPC, turnkey, or machine-package project environments.Seniority ExpectationsThe Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer is expected to take ownership of the electrical and controls scope for assigned projects or packages, make sound technical decisions, represent the function in technical meetings, support successful commissioning and startup, and contribute to the overall technical success of the project.Typical DeliverablesReviewed and approved electrical drawingsControl and interlock philosophy inputI/O and loop documentationVendor review comments and technical clarificationsCommissioning checklists and proceduresStartup and troubleshooting reportsPunch lists and closeout recordsAs-built review comments
