React and Next.js (App Router), strong modern JavaScript and TypeScript Mobile: React Native or Flutter Solid backend: Node.js, REST and ideally GraphQL API design Databases: PostgreSQL or similar, schema design, an ORM (Prisma/Drizzle or equivalent) DevOps: Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and deploying and maintaining on at least one cloud platform (Vercel, AWS or Azure) Authentication, access control and basic application security Uses AI tools daily to ship faster (Claude, Copilot, Cursor or similar) and can show how Able to build AI features into products, not just use AI to code: integrating LLM APIs, agents, retrieval, automation We actively encourage this and want someone who pushes it Fundamentals must be strong: data structures, clean architecture, maintainable and tested code, debugging from first principles. AI speeds up a good engineer; it does not replace one. Requirements Computer Science, Software Engineering or related degree preferred. Not required if a strong portfolio and track record make up for it. +5 years building and shipping production apps 5+ years, with evidence of owning systems and mentoring or leading English: comfortable working in English across the UK and Gulf teams Working hours: UK time zone Can take a vague brief and turn it into a working tool with minimal hand-holding, and explain trade-offs to non-technical people Comfortable being the sole or lead developer on a project Writes tests, reviews own work, cares about reliability Supabase, Microsoft 365 / Graph API, or Tailwind A good UI/UX eye Portfolio is mandatory: portfolio plus GitHub
