Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience – of which a minimum of 5 years is within the wastewater and sewerage treatment sector. The ideal candidate shall have experience in design, installation and commissioning of various mechanical equipment within a wastewater and sewerage treatment facility e.g. pumping stations, sludge de-watering systems, odor control systems, and the like. The ideal candidate shall also have experience in project management – in particular, managing interfaces between clients, contractors and consultants. Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of wastewater and sewage treatment facilities.Demonstrated experience on municipal and/or industrial wastewater treatment projects.Strong knowledge of applicable international standards including AWWA, ISO, ASME, Hydraulic Institute standards, and relevant local regulations.Technical ExperienceDesign and specification of mechanical systems for wastewater and sewage treatment plants.Selection, sizing, and commissioning of pumps, blowers, aeration systems, mixers, screens, grit removal equipment, sludge handling systems, conveyors, valves, gates, penstocks, and odour control systems.Preparation and review of mechanical calculations, datasheets, specifications, material requisitions, and tender documents.Coordination with civil, process, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.Construction supervision, installation inspection, testing, and commissioning.Asset management, reliability engineering, maintenance planning, and troubleshooting.Software ProficiencyAutoCAD.Autodesk Plant 3D, Revit, or equivalent 3D design software.Microsoft Office Suite. Key CompetenciesStrong understanding of wastewater treatment processes and associated mechanical equipment.Ability to review and interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and mechanical drawings.Excellent project management and coordination skills.Strong technical report writing and communication abilities.Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements.Experience managing contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.Preferred ExperienceActivated sludge, MBR, SBR, tertiary treatment, sludge digestion, and biosolids processing systems.Experience with EPC contractors, consultants, or utility operators.Typical ResponsibilitiesLead mechanical engineering design and review activities.Ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and regulations.Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and method statements.Supervise installation, testing, commissioning, and handover.Provide technical support during operation and maintenance.Mentor junior engineers.
