Reports to: Technical Operations ManagerPurpose:The job holder supervises all IT aspects of Computer Lab and Construction Engineering (CENG) department offices, such as software, hardware, lab sessions and exams, in addition to providing IT technical support for teaching faculty, assistants, students and staff members.Responsibilities:Provide technical support and troubleshooting for students and faculty in different types of software that are installed in the labProvide technical advice for all topics related to portable devices, i.e. mobile phones, tablets, and othersProvide technical support for events held by the departmentRequest attendance report from fingerprint deviceProvide technical advice to lab engineers for topics related to equipment data acquisition devices that are used in the construction engineering labsInduct and train new students and staff on computer systems and IT University policiesResponsible for installation, testing and maintaining software and application packages that are used in the academic educational programInstall and maintain all hardware in all labs and computer facilitiesSupervise all aspects of the CENG computer labPrepare and Maintain inventory listPerform system administrator tasks such as preparing group policy management file handling printing servers and users credentialsOpen communication channels with different divisions in the University on tasks related to troubleshooting in IT problems such as network, servers and security.Setting up, configuring, and supporting computer networks in terms of software solutions and hardware solutions such as proxy servers, switches, wide area network (WAN) accelerators, domain name system (DNS) and dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP)Monitor, plan, and coordinate the distribution of client or server software and service packs for databasesMake recommendations for new equipment, software and servicesPerform on-site and remote technical supportEvaluate, test, and recommend appropriate technology for the labsProvide emergency on-call supportOversee computer security and anti-virus updates based on the University recommendationsEnsure all installed software is properly licensed and up to dateSupervise all aspects in the construction methods labOperate a CNC machine that is used in cutting and engraving different types of martial, such as wood, aluminum, foam, and others, that are used in projects related to graduate and undergraduate studiesHandle maintenance tasks for different types of equipment in the labPerform other related duties as assignedRequirements:Minimum Education Requirements:University degreeExperience:Minimum five years of experience in related fieldsExperience in developing proposals, conducting needs assessments, and overseeing implementationSkills:Computer skills, software and hardwareGood English and Arabic, written and spokenVery good communication skills, reading and writingLeadership skillsWeb programming using PHP, html and java script query databases, i.e. MySQL, MsSQL and Microsoft accessSolid knowledge and hands-on practice of business and budget issuesInstallation and administration of windows productsFamiliar with installation and administration Mac OSHands-on experience in proxy servers, switches, WAN accelerators, DNS and DHCP is preferred.Network managementAbility to learn new technologies quicklyAbility to work under pressure and workload and meet deadlinesThis position is open until May 14th, 2026Placement is based on the candidate’s experience and skills.
