Underground Maintenance Leading HandAngloGold Ashanti acquired the Sukari gold mine in Egypt through the acquisition of Centamin plc in November 2024. Sukari is owned in partnership with the Egyptian Government. Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements. The Role We are looking for a qualified tradesperson who will provide strong, visible leadership across underground workshop and mobile maintenance teams by coordinating safe, efficient maintenance activities across all workshop disciplines eg, Mechanical, electrical, welding. Location: On-site in Marsa AlamContract Type: Permanent, full-timeSchedule: 20/10 working rosterCompensation: Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package The Key ResponsibilitiesVisible Safety Leadership: Enforce strict compliance with underground mining statutory requirements, site risk assessments, and isolation standards while actively modeling zero-harm behaviors.Team Coordination & Mentoring: Provide hands-on guidance and mentoring to a diverse team of national and expat tradespeople (including Mantrac personnel) to foster an accountable, continuous-improvement culture.Operational Alignment: Act as the primary liaison between operations and maintenance, ensuring clear cross-departmental communication regarding equipment status, shift handovers, and priorities.Maintenance Execution: Coordinate both preventative and reactive maintenance for workshop and underground mobile equipment to reduce repeat failures and unplanned downtime.Collaborative Engagement: Lead and contribute to daily Toolbox Talks (TBTs), reliability reviews, and planning meetings to encourage team-wide input and uphold elite technical standards.
